Planning approval awarded for this modern residential scheme of 20 apartments on the former New England Public House site at 52 York Road in Brentford, London Borough of Hounslow.

This Hester Architects designed scheme for Shepherds Bush Housing Group consists of much needed one and two bed rented and shared equity apartments. The proposed scheme subtly merges elements of traditional architectural heritage on York Road with uncluttered modern design. This is achieved with consideration of elevational treatment and the careful selection of materials. We are using red and buff bricks of a similar hue to those of the terraced housing on York Road, while the more contemporary element of our scheme, which faces the new development on the Alfa Laval site, benefits from areas of curtain walling and variations in material to break up the elevation and taller massing. The proposed design seeks to respect the proportions and rhythm of key elements of the existing neighboring buildings on York Road and Brook Lane North.
