Shepherds Bush Housing Group has appointed Hester Architects Ltd to Design and submit a full planning application for a modern residential scheme for 23 apartments on the former New England Public House site at 52 York Road in Brentford, London Borough of Hounslow.

The concept of the design was to create a scheme that has a similar feel to the character of the surrounding area as well as complimenting its suburban Brentford setting. The proposal aims to capture architectural elements from the traditional terraced houses to the west and the more modern, high density developments to the east of the site in an attempt to bridge the two styles and characters together. The scale of development takes into consideration the developable area of the site and the constraints made by A4/M4, prevailing densities to the south and west and higher density development to the east. The environment created by the A4 and elevated M4 was taken into consideration from the early design stages.
